Understanding Earthquake and Temperature Loads in Steel Buildings

As well as rain, snow, and wind loading there are other considerations that will affect the quality of any pre-engineered, pre-fabricated steel structure. These include seismic (or earthquake) loads, and cold or heat loads. Moreover, earthquakes can cause serious damage or total destruction to man-made buildings. As more is learned about seismic action, structural codes are adjusted to reflect estimated deflection and resistance in structures.
